Legendary Rides Take Center Stage at Scottsdale Auction

Legendary Rides Take Center Stage at Scottsdale Auction

Excitement is building as the prestigious Bonhams auction returns to Arizona, set to showcase an impressive array of rare and iconic vehicles. The event promises to be a highlight of the automotive calendar, featuring over 130 meticulously curated collector cars that span decades of automotive history. Among the standout pieces are several automobiles that have achieved legendary status in their own right.

The auction's crown jewel is undoubtedly the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, an automobile that has left an indelible mark on the world of sports cars. This particular model, with its distinctive upward-swinging doors and elegant yet aggressive design, has captivated enthusiasts for generations. Having been part of the Moonridge Collection for over two decades, this car boasts a meticulous restoration that preserves its original color scheme of DB180 Silver and 333 Navy Blue leather upholstery. With an estimated value between .45 million and .55 million, it stands as a testament to timeless beauty and engineering excellence.

Another remarkable entry is the 1956 Ferrari 250 Europa GT, a vehicle that epitomizes the blend of luxury and performance. Originally showcased at motor exhibitions, this rare collector’s item is one of the last Europa GTs ever built, equipped with advanced GT upgrades. Its Colombo V12 engine has been expertly rebuilt by a renowned Ferrari specialist, ensuring both authenticity and peak performance. Upholstered with materials that echo its original design, this Ferrari is not only a mechanical marvel but also a piece of automotive artistry, expected to command attention with an estimated price range of .8 million to .3 million.

Beyond these classics, the auction also features modern masterpieces like the 2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition. Paying homage to the historic 1968 Daytona victory, this limited-edition supercar captures the spirit of American motorsports. One of only 50 produced, this nearly new Ford GT showcases a striking matte black and red livery, reminiscent of the race-winning vehicle. As part of Ford’s annual tradition of celebrating significant moments in GT40 history, this edition honors a pivotal chapter in automotive lore, with an estimated value of .25 million to .5 million.

In addition to these gems, the 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Edition stands out for its exclusivity. Originally a standard SLR, this car was later transformed through a bespoke program that allowed for personalized upgrades. Only 25 cars participated in this elite transformation, making each one unique. Boasting both aesthetic and performance enhancements, this SLR McLaren Edition represents the pinnacle of luxury and performance, with an anticipated sale price between 5,000 and 5,000.

American muscle is also well-represented with the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Hardtop Trans Am Racer. Converted into a race car from new, this vehicle became a formidable presence in the Trans Am series during the late 1960s. Driven by notable racers Gary Gove and Jerry Grant, the Camaro retains its original off-white body and green racing stripes, along with the iconic lucky number 7. Still actively competing in historic races, this car bridges past and present, embodying the enduring legacy of American motorsports. Estimated to fetch between 5,000 and 5,000, it is sure to attract collectors who appreciate the thrill of competition and historical significance.

Each vehicle featured at the Scottsdale Auction tells a story of innovation, craftsmanship, and passion. These cars represent more than just machines; they are symbols of human achievement and the pursuit of excellence. As collectors and enthusiasts gather, they will witness not just a sale, but a celebration of automotive history and the enduring allure of classic and modern masterpieces.
